Prof. Dr. Ludger Schöls
Current projects:

- Differentiation of iPS cells into patient specific neurons, “Brainoids” and hepatocytes
- Screen for compounds ameliorating the load of neurotoxic metabolites
- Explore potential therapeutic approaches by addressing affected pathways
Clinical neurogenetics:

- Ataxia – Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia – Motor neuron disease and frontotemporal dementia
- Leukodystrophies in adulthood
- Leukodystrophies in adulthood – Center for rare neurological diseases (Huntington disease, mitochondriopathies, etc.)
Research focus:
Modelling neurogenetic diseases using induced pluripotent stem cells and its differentiation into neurons which are genetically identical to our patients.
